LIBERTÉ TEMPÉRÉE

« Divertissement » for String Quartet and String Orchestra shows well the first stage of Pierre Mercure’s career. Preoccupied by the art’s synthesis, from his arrival at Radio-Canada Television in 1952, he looks for a way to combine sound, image, movement, form and color.

While listening to this brilliant partition that goes along so well with dancing, the choice of presenting a current theme that would’ve inspired Pierre Mercure was made. Man, freed from his constraints but still lost, searches for a way to lead again. The questionable ethics of today’s society allied with the discovery of the past leads to a new freedom order.
